Our main hospital in Oklahoma's oldest town

Fort Gibson grew up around a frontier army post built in 1824, which makes it the oldest town in Oklahoma. Today it sits between Muskogee and Tahlequah, a few miles downstream of the Fort Gibson Lake dam on the Grand River. Our hospital on South Scott Street serves families from town, from the lake area and from the farms around it.

Ft. Gibson is our main location. It is the hospital that stays open into the night for emergencies, and the one that offers boarding. If you are not sure which location to call, either one can point you to the right place.

After-hours emergency care

From 5 PM to 12 AM, our Ft. Gibson hospital is open for emergency visits, with a doctor on call. That covers the hours when most clinics are closed and the nearest help can feel far away.

Please call before you come in. Tell us what happened and what kind of animal it is, and we will get ready for you. Our emergency care guide lists the signs that mean your pet needs help now.

Emergency? Call before you drive, so we can be ready when you arrive.

Everyday care in Ft. Gibson

During regular hours, our Ft. Gibson team sees dogs and cats for wellness exams and vaccines, sick visits, surgery and internal medicine.

Summer at the lake means more time outdoors for pets, and more ticks, foxtails, cut paws and heat stress. Keep your pet’s tick and heartworm prevention current, bring plenty of water, and call us if your dog seems weak or is panting hard after a day in the sun.

Boarding and grooming

Heading out of town? Our Ft. Gibson hospital offers pet boarding, so your pet stays in an animal hospital with a vet team in the same building. Pair it with grooming and your pet comes home clean.

Boarding fills up around holidays. Call early, and make sure your pet’s vaccines are current before the stay.

Close to Muskogee and Tahlequah

Fort Gibson sits a short drive east of Muskogee, on the road toward Tahlequah. That puts our hospital within reach of families in Muskogee, Wagoner, Hulbert and Okay, as well as the homes and cabins around Fort Gibson Lake. When the regular clinics in the area close for the night, our Ft. Gibson team is still here for emergencies until midnight.

If you are coming from out of town for the first time, save our address in your phone before you need it. It is much easier to find us on a calm day than in the middle of an emergency. Our locations page has both addresses and the towns we serve.

Paying for care

Nobody plans for an emergency. We work with Cherry and CareCredit, so you can spread the cost of care over monthly payments. See our financing options.
