Overview
Boarding inside an animal hospital
Leaving your pet behind is never easy. Boarding with LegacyVet means your dog or cat stays in an animal hospital, cared for by a team that knows how to read the signs of stress or illness.
If your pet needs medicine during the stay, we can give it. If your pet seems unwell, a vet can take a look instead of waiting until you get home. That is the main difference between boarding with a vet and boarding anywhere else.
What is included
- A safe, clean place to stay
- Feeding on your pet's schedule
- Medicine given as directed
- A vet team in the same building
- Grooming before pickup, if you like
- A call if anything comes up

Booking a stay
Call our Ft. Gibson location to book. Boarding fills up around holidays and school breaks, so call early when you can. We will ask about your pet’s age, health, food, medicines and any habits we should know about.
Please make sure vaccines are current before the stay. If your pet is due, we can take care of it at a wellness visit before you leave.

What to bring
Bring your pet’s regular food, enough for the stay plus a little extra. Sudden food changes can upset the stomach. Bring any medicines in their original labeled containers with written directions.
A familiar blanket or a small toy can help your pet settle in. Leave a phone number where we can reach you, and the name of someone nearby in case we cannot.
Going home
Many owners like to add a bath or a full groom so their pet comes home fresh. Ask about grooming when you book.
When you pick up, we will let you know how your pet ate, slept and behaved, and whether we noticed anything you should keep an eye on.
Helping your pet settle in
Some pets take a day or two to relax in a new place. It is normal for a pet to eat a little less on the first night. A short, calm goodbye at drop-off helps more than a long one, since pets pick up on our feelings.
If your pet has never stayed away from home, a short first stay, like one night, can make the next trip easier. Tell us about anything that helps your pet feel safe, such as a favorite toy, a set feeding time or a fear of storms. Older pets and pets with health problems are welcome too. Because a vet team works in the same building, we can watch them closely and call you if anything changes.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
Where is boarding offered?
Boarding is offered at our Ft. Gibson location. Call that location to check dates and book a stay.
What vaccines does my pet need for boarding?
Your pet should be current on rabies and other core vaccines. We may also ask about vaccines that protect against diseases that spread where many pets stay together. Call ahead and we will check your pet’s records.
Can you give my pet medicine while I am away?
Yes. Bring the medicine in its original labeled container with written directions, and we will give it as directed.
Can I book grooming during a boarding stay?
Yes. Many owners add a bath or a full groom near the end of the stay, so their pet comes home clean. Ask when you book.
What happens if my pet gets sick while boarding?
A vet team works in the same building. If your pet seems unwell, a vet can look at them, and we will call you right away.
